Nudes in Nature Series

While producing my recent series, Nudes in Nature, I unveiled many facets of my emotional evolution in an attempt to portray these elements throughout this series.

The recurring figures of three women represent the space I hold  for not only my own body and my own personal healing journey, but also for the human body as a whole and the healing course of the collective.

We as humans consist of many layers, some are for the world to see, while others are hidden. My delicate and intuitive process of layering both paint and paper is how I suggest this in my work.

Each woman is wearing carefully selected jewelry, representing eternal elegance. Each plant and flower throughout this series is in honor of our ability as individuals to grow. Each and every element is symbolic in its own nature. The blooming of hope and serenity is what I felt in the last moments of creating this work of art.

Each piece of artwork in the Nudes in Nature series begins with researching different figurative poses and once the vision strikes, a small sketch is rendered before free-handing the final sketch directly onto the 36”x48” canvas.

I then create a contrasting background using acrylic paint, and when dry, I unleash the paper process.

Drawing on my instinctive inner-sense, I search intentionally through fashion magazines for just the right luxury ads with which I create my paper palette. Through the experience gained from mastering this highly detailed technique, I have developed many tools to gain efficiency, as several months are dedicated to each piece of work . For this particular piece (pictured above), I spent close to four months adhering layers of cut up paper onto my canvas. Through this meticulously conscious process, these paper paintings are born.
